Car won't start
Car won't start
2002 Grand Prix won't turn over in start position. Lights are on, radio, air, windows, headlights all work but the starter doesn't work. Starter replaced, battery good. Have 12 volts at battery and fuse box under hood. Low voltage at purple wire on starter and yellow wire on neutral safety switch. What is the problem?
Re: Car won't start
what is "low voltage" on the purple wire to the starter?
that purple wire should carry battery voltage to the starter solenoid. Yellow wire should be the voltage supplied from the ignition switch. If you have low voltage from the yellow wire at the neutral safety switch check the voltage on the red wire (switches to red/white) which is the power from the IGN MAIN 1, 40A maxi fuse. that's the wire that brings power to the ignition switch. Make sure you are getting battery voltage on the red (red/white) and battery voltage going out on the yellow wire going to the neutral safety switch.
