1995 Pontiac Grand Am is Dead
Hello i need help please i have a 1995 grand Am gt 3100 Engine. My fan relay was bad so i used a wire to check the rest of my relays stupid of me as i was checking one i heard a pop now my fuel pump don,t work any more,
Re: Car is Dead
Also i don't have any fire at the coil help
Re: 1995 Pontiac Grand Am is Dead
The pop you heard was a fuse that blew. You need to check all your fuses. Since you heard it while under the hood of your Pontiac, then one or more must have blown in the under hood fuse block. Check all those, and for good measure, check the in car fuse box as well.
Since the fuel pump will not pump and no spark, you might have blown more that one. Look for fuses labled "Fuel- " or "Emissions -".

i checked all the fuse and relay's are all new i have 5 relay's under the hood no fuse box, what else could it be?i was told that it could be my.Crankshaft position Sensor?if there are any more fuse box in this car i see only one.on the side on the side dash
Re: 1995 Pontiac Grand Am is Dead
put a new crank sensor on car still want start no fire.I checked the wiring going to the ignition module fire is reaching the ignition module also checked the fuel pump its working.i had to run a jumper wire to it,everything is new still wont start could it be the ignition module,
Re: 1995 Pontiac Grand Am is Dead
OK. So you replaced the crank sensor behind the crank pulley.
Engine has No Spark.
Do you have proper fuel pressure?
You need to find out if you have fuel injector pulse. If you do not have spark AND injector pulse, then it is not the ignition module.
If you have injector pulse but NO spark, then yes, most likely the ignition module.
Maybe the pop was just a coincidense? Or You may have blown the computer when you heard the pop when trying to jumper the relay.
You need to get a scanner that can read engine data to see if there is RPM when cranking.
Is the theft / security light on the dash?

Re: 1995 Pontiac Grand Am is Dead
Don't Have a anti-theft system.well i f up huh.how do i check for injector pulse;the crankshaft position sensor was on the back side of the motor.
Re: 1995 Pontiac Grand Am is Dead
The crank sensor between the block and the transmission is the 7x, the one behind the crank pulley is the 24x crank sensor.
To check for injector pulse, either use a Noid light, or a test light. The injectors should always have power, then the PCM grounds them, so the light will flash.
Yes, you do have a factory theft system. Turn key on, look for a picture of a lock or the word theft or security to come on then go off. If it stays on after cranking and then releasing the key, you have a problem.
You have a chip in the key right?

Re: 1995 Pontiac Grand Am is Dead
No,my key do not have a chip and i do not have a theft system i have a 1995 grand Am.i had the injector pulse checked they are good
Re: 1995 Pontiac Grand Am is Dead
Sorry, thought is was a grand Prix. Ok. If you have injector pulse, then the crank sensor is good. So you have no spark and i assume good fuel pressure?
Then yes it sounds like the ignition module.
