GM 3.8 Dies when goes to closed loop

Unread post by k9s » Sat Dec 29, 2012 2:28 pm

2000 Pontiac Bonneville 3.8. Began running rough, and check engine light came on. Codes were misfire #1, crank sensor and cam sensor. When cold and it will start and run fine. When engine warms up and goes to closed loop the car begins to run rough and will die abruptly. I have checked my coils, plug wire and plugs and replaced the crank sensor. Still the same results. Ideas????? Still getting same codes.

I've seen Mass Airflow Sensors cause problems like this. You might want to try replacing it and see what happens. Other than that, I would make absolutely sure that you don't have any ignition problems such as an actual misfire due to a bad plug, wire, or coil...or even faulty ignition module.
