2002 Buick Century Front tire wear

Unread post by goatman » Sun Oct 13, 2013 11:03 am

My right front tire is wearing badly on the sidewall of the tire. It is actually wearing the name and letters off of the tire. There is a slight wiggle on the tire when I push on the top + bottom of tire, but doesn't seem to be that bad. Ball joint + tie rod seem tight, unless I'm not checking them right. What is most likely causing this problem? Could struts be the problem?

If it is wearing that badly, either the strut has been pushed way out of alignment, or more likely since you have movement you describe, the wheel bearing is loose.

Have that wheel off the ground, move it to get it to wiggle and have someone look at the ball joint and strut. If they are not moving, but the axle is, then the hub bearing is bad.
