1991 Buick Lesabre Turn Signal Flasher Location

Unread post by Loucardi » Wed Feb 24, 2010 5:26 pm

My 1991 Buick Lesabre(one of the few that still runs), needs its turn signal flasher replaced. I understand most flashers are located under the steering column, but before I unscrew all the bolts I wanted to see if this was the location for my car. I cannot find anything online and came across this website.

Thanks,
Brandon.

Yes, it is under the drivers side of the dash. Don't remember if it is on a clip that clips to the actualt column, or somewhere close to that.
May be more toward that trim panel under the column- the knee bolster.

You should check the connections at your aftermarket radio. Something has probably come loose or disconnected. Since all the speakers quit, that narrows it down to the one thing controlling all of them. Unless you have an amp or other aftermarket radio parts, check that as well. You could have also blown a fuse for the radio, or wired something wrong. If you can get your hands on a schematic, that always helps! Check the simple things first, like fuses, wiring connections, etc. If all that checks ok, you may have a bad radio.

first of all, it may be easier to remove the two 13mm bolts on either side of the big hole at the top of the strut. then you cat remove the big nut in the center outside of the car. Be very sure that the lower control arm is supported such that the spring is compressed so the strut is not loaded (under pressure)

the bolts at the bottom of the strut do get rusted in. Have you tried to turn the bolts? Sometimes trying to turn the bolts will get them freed up so you can hammer them out. If you can't hammer them out (making sure you don't damage the end or the threads) you could use an air hammer with a wide flat bit that looks a little like hammer face to push them out. There is also an inductive tool that can go over the bolt and heat them up called the mini-inductor. It will get the bolts really hot without using any flame and that could free the bolts. If your car has the air ride make sure you let the air out of the struts.

Car not starting in below freezing weather

Unread post by GregSmith » Tue Jan 05, 2016 9:09 am

We recently bought a 1999 Buick Park ave, the car runs great starts just fine until the temp drops below freezing. then it will not start until the weather warms above freezing. The car cranks over just fine, not a battery issue. just will not fire, dose not even act like its trying to fire.

suggest you start by getting system scanned - yes even if CEL light is off.

Cold weather starting problem I would check, ECT sensor and fuel pressure.
The sensor determines the fuel enrichment during cold start- old school would equate this to "choke" for cold start, fuel pressure if low would create problems with starting in colder temps.

PS the scan is FREE and easy- most auto parts will do it faast and free!!

how to use the ENG/MET

Unread post by SHOOTER » Mon Oct 03, 2016 7:54 am

how do you reset the schedule to 100% on a 2003 Buick lesabre.
I have found 2 methods and would like to know how to do this reset after an oil change.
here is what I found on it>

some say stomp the gas pedal 3 times fast with Ignition on ,
others say use the Eng/MET button I never touched this maybe you can help me .
Buick LeSabre, Park Avenue, 2000-05
Turn the ignition to ON. Press the GAGE INFO button on the driver information center (DIG) switch to view OIL LIFE INDEX. Press and hold the RESET button on the DIG until the display reads OIL LIFE INDEX 100% NORMAL. The engine oil life monitor is now reset.. Turn the ignition OFF.
Buick Terraza, 2005-06 Buick Park Avenue, 1997-99
When OIL LIGHT INDEX CHANGE OIL appears in the Driver Information Center, press and hold the RESET or TRIP RESET button while the oil life index is being displayed. After 5 seconds, the oil life will change to 100%.
Buick Le Sabre, 1995-99; Buick Park Avenue, 1995-96
When “CHANGE OIL SOON” light is illuminated, access the reset button in the glove box. With the engine off, and the ignition switch in the RUN position, press and hold the button for at least 5 seconds. The light will flash four times then go out.
Buick Allure Buick Lacrosse, 2005-06 Buick Century, 1997-05 Buick Regal, 1996-04 Buick Roadmaster, 1995-96
Turn the ignition to ON without starting the engine. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds.
If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator flashes two times, the system is resetting. Turn the key to OFF, then start the vehicle. If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator comes on and stays on for five seconds, repeat the procedure.

Gauge info or Gauges is the button your vehicle should have on your digital information center (DIC) to bring up you oil life display. press and hold reset button for 5 seconds and the oil life goes to 100%. then cycle the key off
