my 2006 ford Taurus is having periodic shifting problems but when I take it out of over drive and run it in drive for minute and than put it back in overdrive seems to shift fine.

when does the shifting problem occur and what does it do? shift hard, slip, go in and out of gear? is it every shift or only at highway speed? you may want to have the trans scanned for codes or pending codes. It may not even be a trans issue if you are having a misfire it could jerk the vehicle under light loads at highway speed.
Replacing the Catalytic converter(s) on a 1996 Windstar 3.8L
I am unable to find any online diagrams, pictures or instructions on how to replace the catalytic converter(s) on my 1996 Ford Windstar - 3.8L V6.
Also unsure as to what exactly to purchase because I am unable to find anything other then sales pitches. Any one know?
I think I have it figured out, kind of, but would like to have some more solid information to work with.

changing the converters should be just unbolt them. Aftermarket converters sometimes are just cut the old converter out and weld in a new one. Check the emissions tag in the hood area to tell you if you need a cat that is california compliant
P0430 code
My 2006 Ford Taurus keeps coming up with P0430 code. I've tried everything recommended including drive cycles. The car sounds and runs great even tho she's past the 200,000 mi count. I've added Guarantee to Pass, new gas cap, plug wires, used non-fouler tip amongst other things. Originally had misfire code and P0420 has popped up randomly and on the recent smog check. Basically it's the 0430 that's not completing. The other codes have pretty much cleared.
Anyone have any tips before I have to believe I need a new catalytic conv.

your code is for the catalytic converter not burning off the hydrocarbons the get through the engine. your front O2 sensor moves back and forth all the time. The rear O2 sensor may start off that way cold but when it warms if should level out because the cat. burns off excess hydrocarbons. If you have a scanner you could watch the graph of the front and rear O2 sensors and see what they are doing. O2 sensors get old and sometimes slow down. But if your rear O2 sensor goes back and forth below .2 volt and then above .8 volt then the catalytic converter is not burning off the hydrocarbons. That pretty much says you need a new cat. If the O2 sensor slows way down and does not react to revving the engine up and down a few times then you may have a bad O2 sensor. Sensors do go bad but most of the time it's the cat is used up. The substrate could be plugged up or the metals are worn and no longer heating up enough to burn off the extra fuel in the exhaust. But that's pretty much it. rear O2 sensor or catalytic converter.
P0420 for bank one, P0430 for bank two, Look at both rear O2 sensors. If they are warmed up and still switching over and under 4.5 volt then hydrocarbons are getting through the cat. (bad cat)

2011 Ford escape Xlt 2.5L Engine oil Question
So today I was charging my battery on my car and I saw this [see picture below]. It was not there a week ago because I topped of my windshield washer fluid and I didn't see it at that time. I used my finger to wipe some up and this is what it looked like [see picture below]. It either smelled like engine oil or transmission oil im not sure which one. I can also tell you that it had some little metallic stuff mixed into the fluid as well. The transmission oil has also never been changed at all. I also drive the car everyday and it has not been driving any different however it has been shifting at higher rpms then normal. Also I just got a remote start and I've been using that all the time. Any help you can give me would on what is happening would be greatly appreciated.[image][/image]

I'm sorry but I didn't see the images your referred to. I see that there are images noted in your post but they didn't show up for me. Can you try and reload or give me a better description of what and where your oil substance is at?
Low Oil Pressure
When I turn my ignition to acc the dash reads low oil pressure. The oil light is not on and doesn't come on at all. There is no indication of low oil. The car runs great and makes no obvious low oil related sounds like ticking or clacking. Got different answers online like possible oil sending unit, possible camshaft sensor unit. I don't have a diagnostics device so no codes available. Any ideas?

what is the year, make, model and engine of your vehicle? Some Fords have a gauge for oil pressure but it's really a switch. If you get a message that the oil pressure is low, does it actually say "low oil pressure"?
I would have the oil pressure checked manually. And check it after the engine is at normal running temperature.
you said that you don't have code reader so no codes. Is the check engine light on but you don't know what the codes are or is the check engine light off?
