Problem with my 2001 Olds Alero
2.4L four cylinder
Lights = Service Vehicle Soon (Intermittent)
Repairs done prior = Remote car starting system added 2 years before problem started.
Checked all lights, ground connections, fuses...all ok
GM tech = JK
question = Have a intermittent problem, I start the car and after 10 seconds, the service
vehicle soon light comes on, chimes sound, heater fan doesn't work in any speed, even
high speed, radio doesn't work. After several minuets, heater fan works, radio works,
SVS light goes out. Other times, I start the car and all is fine all day. Could the ignition
switch or the BCM be the problem?
A BCM problem would not explain all the problems.
It has nothing to do with radio or HVAC power or ground.
This may be an ignition switch problem.
You can try to wiggle the key, or even tap on it lightly- right on the head, when the
engine is running.
This will sometimes cause a bad ignition switch to act up / clear up.
May want to remove the radio or lower dash to access the alarm / remote start, as they
splice into the ignition switch wiring. Poor connection there could give many odd
problems.
