| 3-25-11 I made the heater door repair myself last year. It took about 8 hours to take it all apart. About 3 hours to fox it and about 10 hour to put it back together. While it was apart, I modified the door motor so that it would not over-travel the door and break again (hopefully).. Good luck with it. |

| 12-20-11 My Pontiac Torrent heater will work sometimes but not all the time. Sometimes if you turn engine off and restart it will work and sometimes not. Any suggestions on what the problem is? |
| First check the coolant level. If that is OK, then you may have a bad temperature door motor. Get it looked at as soon as possible in case it ends up breaking the temperature door, as described above. |
| 1-5-12 Thank you for this information. I have the same problem with our Pontiac Torrent we purchased in October. I have given this link, and the information to our Ministry of Transportation, they are taking it seriously. Sad that you can adjust this part to not have it reoccur, but GM could not do this for the shear fact of the safety issue alone :(. |
| 1-11-12 I too am having the same problem. No heat! Just had it looked at for a repair estimate and I was quoted $850.00 for the parts and a 8 hr repair job. |
| That does not make sensor that the parts are $850, and 8 hours labor. I think you misunderstood. I think the total with labor is $850. The part is only $25. |
| 4-12-12 My repair estimate is $1,200 for the heater. Same issue every one else is having. Our 2006 Pontiac Torrent has 44k miles on it. Is garaged year round and doesn't even have a scratch on it... It's In better shape then my new car... I'm so pissed right now I can chew through barb wire.... I'm looking into filing a complaint.. I will never buy another GM car. |

| MY wife's 06 has the same condition. How do you file a complaint. This vehicle has been nothing but trouble for us. The first major issue was the heating element for the pass seat caught the seat on fire and burned my wifes coat! We should have sued when we had the chance. |
2006 Pontiac Torrent.I have a 2006 Torrent that the heater does not work. The blower fan and all
the switches are fine. Airflow does change from vent to floor to defrosters.
When i turn the temp knob to hot air, only get cold come out. Does not matter what setting the mode
door is in.I have read that it could be the temperature door motor is bad and needs to be
replaced.My mechanic has not done this. Can we do it in our garage?

Answer:
Yes, this is becoming a common problem on the Chevy Equinox and Pontiac Torrent. The
temperature door has broken inside the dash. To replace it, you will need to remove the entire
dash board assembly, all related parts, the cross car beam, then you can remove the heater air
conditioning case.The case must be disassembled to replace the door.
It costs about $22 Dealer only. This is an very big job. Takes a good 7-8 hours to complete. Even
for me who works on these cars and trucks all day.I would suggest your mechanic not or you doing
this yourself unless you have experience with the Chevy Equinox or Pontiac Torrent SUV.
