Problem on my Oldsmobile Silhouette GLS
Year = 2000
Mileage = 143,500
Engine size = 3.4 L
dash lights = ABS
codes = no
work done prior = I bought this vehicle 2nd hand. reg maintenance
performed.
Tech = JK
question = I just purchased and this vehicle has minor issues, the radio
is in "locked" position and I believe it is because the engine had to
be jump started when we purchased. It had been sitting idle for a few
months and may need a battery. Drove it for 1.5 hrs runs great. Feels
good. How can I unlock the factory installed radio,cd,cassette without
AYING AN ARM AND A LEG??? Help. It was the quietest ride I have ever been
on. Thanks in advance.......

Yes, these are great minivans. Very quiet with a great ride. A actually own a 2001 chevy venture,
nice ride, but not as good as the Olds.
Anyway, to unlock the radio, you will need to have it unlocked with a dealer scanner. These are
not like the older models where you can enter a code. Expect to pay 1/2 hour labor for this
service.

Yes, most likely the clutch plate material has come apart on the 2nd clutch
assembly. P1811 is component slipping.
Trans. would have to come out and disassembled.
