Engine size = V6

work done prior = Dead battery, after recharge radio locked out
tech = JK
question = I need a radio unlock code for my 1999 Oldsmobile
Silhouette. This past winter my battery died during repair work being done. The
tech never unlocked the code on my radio and gave my husband the run
around. I have been without my radio for 6 months and tempted to just buy
a new one. Is there a generic code used that can unlock my radio?

JK:
First you must do this procedure.....
Simultaneously press and hold the 2 and 3 pushbuttons for about 6 seconds until
the first 3 digits of the display code appear.
Write the numbers down.
Press the AM-FM button.
The second 3 digits will display.
Write the numbers down.
Then i must call these numbers in to get a factory backup code. There is a fee that i
must pay to get this code, so i will need to be re-imbursed for that.
Then  i can give you instructions on how to enter.
If the radio says INOP, then too many tries were made, and it is in level 2 theft. You
will need to leave key on for 1 hr without touching radio before anything can be
done. Be sure to have van running, or a battery charger on it, or the battery will go
dead.
