question = My gas needle jumps slightly back and forth when im idling
what is causing this to happen?  it just started doing this last month

JK:
A common cause for an erratic fuel gauge is the fuel level sensor in the
tank. Or possibly the connections on top of the tank. Either way, the fuel
tank would have to come out of the truck
