Ford f150 bucking at steady speed

Unread post by zes57 » Sat Dec 04, 2010 5:41 pm

Hello, My ford f150 will occasionally buck when going up hill at a steady rate of speed. It seems that it may be misfiring too when driving at a steady speed but it doesnt seem to be doing it all the time. I have really bad gas milage and the fuel pressure regulator seems to be making a bunch of noise. How do you test the fuel pressure and could a bad regulator make it buck and/or misfire? :?:

Yes a leaking regulatror can casue misfires, but usually a spark plug wire or spark plug will give you the type of misfire you are having. Spray water around the plug wires adn ignition system. If water hits a bad plug wire it will cause it to arc, and misfire.

If the regulator is making noise and you have bad fuel economy, then the reglator is your problem.

Check the distributor cap. It may well be corroded. Also the rotor in the distributor might be worn. Lot's of reasons for your problem, but it is usually something simple. Good luck, R.
