Alero Engine in Damp Weather

Unread post by dandettman » Mon Apr 08, 2013 2:30 pm

When I start to drive in wet weather, my Alero put puts in a jerking motion and the Check Engine Soon light starts flashing. After I drive for a few feet this stops and the light turns off. Any ideas on what is wrong with the engine or fuel pump?

The damp weather gives this problem away. What are you experiencing is a misfire condition do to an ignition component being wet, or damp with moisture. The check engine light will flash when the car is misfiring as well.

Usually this ends up being ignition wires that are bad, cracked, worn out, etc. It could also be an ignition coil. It's not too difficult to replace the ignition wires so you might want to start there, as that's the most common thing.
