02 5.3L V 8 Problems w/ABS system

Unread post by biddy » Mon Aug 02, 2010 6:35 pm

I just replaced the brake pads, rotors, calipers, hoses, brake pedal switch and every time I step on the brakes, the ABS system kicks in. Does anyone know what else may be causing this?? The mechanic has scanned the vehicle and NO codes are showing up. HELP!!

All these parts you replaced have nothing to do with the ABS.
Most likely you have a problem with one of the front wheel speed sensors, or the wiring for a sensor.
Most times these will not set a code, because the fault happens too quickly.
We cant even see it on a live data stream of the front wheel speeds most of the time.
The 2 wires for either front sensor are inside the black plastic shielding. They tend to break. The only way to tell is to cut open the shielding.
This must be done very carefully, because you can cause more damage to the wires inside, and think you found a bad wire- but actually you just damaged it, and it is not the original problem.

The problem is your wheel bearings.
I had change the hub assembly with new after market to ensure bearings are in correctly.

2000 Tahoe Transmission/TCase problem

Unread post by GhostTown80 » Mon Nov 07, 2016 4:57 pm

2000 tahoe with 4l60e transmission, has fluid migrating from transmission to transfer case. Replaced transfer case input seal 2 months ago, problem persisted. Now replacing transmission output shaft seal as well. The old seal and all surfaces appear to be in really good condition, and I am wondering if there are other potential causes for this problem before I put everything back together.

that's pretty much it. Most seals work one way. to keep the fluid in. If they leak the fluid gets out. because the area between the trans and transfer case is seal up between one leaking out will usually end up in the other.

there shouldn't be any other places where they would be combined to create a transfer from one to another.

Well, unless someone tied the vent hoses together. Just kidding...

4l60e Shift Problems

Unread post by 97TheHoe » Sat Dec 17, 2016 5:06 pm

Im having a problem with my 4l60e transmission. In drive it starts in 2nd gear and only shifts up to 3rd. I can gain 1st gear manually but not 2nd manually. When the transmission shifts to overdrive it is intermittent. I've changed the 1-2 Shift, 2-3 Shift, the pmw, and the 3-2 downshift solenoids with no change. Ruled out the ignition switch by jumping power from the first ignition wire to the transmission wire with no change. Need advise before i throw more money into it

I am not a transmission expert but I would scan the trans module and see if there are any codes before I did anything else. Then go from there
