old school engine in a tbi truck

Unread post by rwcrash » Wed Aug 28, 2013 2:42 pm

I am putting a souped up engine in my 96 Cheyenne. It is 4wd with the 4l60e trans. My silly question of the day is how do I get around the new engine not being computer controlled to make the tranny shift? And will I at least be able to manually shift it?

4l60"e" tranny's need a computer to work. To work without a computer type engine you will have to get an aftermarket trans controller. They make them just for this type of application. Check out this article form Hot Rod. near the bottom. they refer to the "EZ-TCU" controller and a TPS "PN 37401 for carbureted applications"

Hood will not close flat

Unread post by martin604 » Thu Dec 10, 2015 6:11 pm

This maybe simple for some but not for me. I have a 1988 chevy K2500 PU and the hood latch will not allow the hood to fully close flat. I just bought the truck. Do I need to loosen the cable and reposition the end tighter taking up slack or what???? pictures would help a bunch.
perplexed
thanks in advance Martin
