2002 Chevrolet Malibu A/C Goes off

Unread post by jwc72 » Thu Jun 20, 2013 1:26 pm

I have problem with A/C. Every time I turn the A/C on and it goes off itself in few minutes later. I talked to my friend who is mechanic. He suggest me to replace the A/C Actuator. I wasn't sure if it is actually A/C Actuator that causing the problem with power goes off itself. Please let me know if you are familiar with this problem in your experience. I would appreciate to hear before I go buy a new A/C Actuator to replace.

There is no actuator that will cause the A/C to go off. If the light on the control blinks or goes off, this is from a bad control head- the part in the dash you use to control everything. Very common.

If it just starts blowing warm, you could be low on Freon.

Ah, okay. Yes, it sometimes blink or goes off itself.

So, I'll need to get blower motor control unit not blower motor resistor?

Not the blower motor control unit, replace the whole A/C heater control unit in the dash. The blower resistor is only used to control the blower speeds.
