Pontiac grand prix low oil level light
"Change oil" light doesn't go away
I have a 99 Grand Prix (surprisingly, it still runs great), but I can't reset the "change oil" light using the normal procedure (pressing the gas pedal three times in 5 sec) any more. It worked many times before, but now it would not reset no matter how many times I tried it. Also, the door lock timer doesn't work either - the doors lock instantly. I'm not sure but I suspect the trouble started after I replaced the battery. I know that both features are controlled by BCM. How do I reset it? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

does your car have a place that shows "oil life"?

if all the problems started when you changed your battery I would look at clearing all the modules and memories.
you might try disconnecting your battery and touching your battery cables together (completely separated from the battery) to discharge stored components then attach your positive cable back to the battery and the ground cable last and see if is back to normal.

sometimes the oil level light switch goes bad. Goes into the side of the oil pan.
