3.4L Coil Pack/Ignition Module Problem
3.4L Coil Pack/Ignition Module Problem
My 93 Pontiac Grand Prix 3.4L suddenly started missing a few days ago. I took it to a shop and they diagnosed a bad coil. I discovered no spark from either the #2 or #5 spark plugs, so replaced the "bad" coil, yet still no spark. I took the coil pack, exchanged it with another, and installed it...same result. I switched the new coil pack with one known to be working...same result, switched plug wires...same result. Would this indicate the module is bad or something else? My understanding is that when the module goes bad, the car won't start...period. What can be the problem?
Re: 3.4L Coil Pack/Ignition Module Problem
Yes, this is a bad ignition control module.
Most of the time a bad module will not fire on any coil, but sometimes they fail on individual coils.
