Need to unlock Monsoon radio in Sunfire - "LOCKED", not LOC

Unread post by Bluesmessiah » Wed Mar 06, 2013 5:17 pm

I'm happy to pay $10 to get the radio code, but the website says if the screen says LOC or INOP. I just put this used radio in and it reads "LOCKED". I've tried holding the 2 and 3 buttons, but nothing happens. Is there a way to get the codes for this without going to the dealer?

Sorry, thought I got that in. It's a 2001 Sunfire. The radio I am installing has a sticker saying it was made in 2000.

Ok, well bad news. If holding the buttons does not give you any numbers, you're not going to be able to unlock that type radio yourself. This one requires a scan tool to do the radio set up. That is the only way you'll get to go from 'Locked' to functional again. You'll have to visit a GM dealership and pay to have it done.

thanks for the update. Really do appreciate it (even though it's bad news!)
