work done to repair = REPLACED EGR VALVE AND GASKET, LIGHT WENT OFF

ABOUT 50 MILES AND IS NOW BACK ON.

question = Is there anything else that may be causing the check engine
light to come on? What else can I do?

This codes is for EGR closed position performance. If replacement of the valve did
not fix it, then the next thing to look for is broken/stretched wires at the connector.
The cooper wire inside the colored insulation can break. A tug on each individual
wire would show the insulation stretching. That is a sign that the wires is broken.
There may be a blockage in the EGR port in the intake manifold. This will also
cause this code.
