1997 Chevy Malibu Radio Problem

question = Need an unlock code for a 97 malibu. I tried the procedure
I read in this website about holding down certain buttons to display a
number. All that did was make the screen say "INOP". Now it wont do
anything.

A radio that displays 'INOP' means that too many tries were made to unlock the
radio, and it is now in long term lock. You must let car sit with key on for at least 1
hour, turn key off for 10 seconds, then back on before you attempt to get the
codes from the radio. Will need to keep a battery charger on so the battery does
not go dead while key is on for the 1 hour.
