WARNING LIGHTS
2004 chevy trailblazer
Mileage = 46000
Engine size = 6 cyl
codes =
p0455
tech = any
question = what should i be looking for when code p0455 comes
up....
evaporative emission control  system leak detected (gross leak)

JK:
Code p0455 is a large EVAP leak.
A common cause for this is a loose or faulty gas cap. Or if the truck was running when you were filling it
with gas, this can also cause this code.
Another common cause is a faulty / sticking
EVAP vent solenoid / valve. If the vent  valve does not
operate, the system will not seal when it needs to, thus causing a large leak. A simple test with a test light
and a scanner that can turn the vent solenoid on and off would need to be done to test the valve.

A common cause for this warning light and the codes you are getting is a failed
Steering Wheel Position Sensor.
This code is very intermittent and hard to diagnose. Even with the proper scanner to
view stability system data, the sensor is usually operating correctly at the time of
diagnosis. There is also a service bulletin that refers to a wiring harness that may
cause these codes, but most all of the time it is the sensor. The sensor is not hard to
replace. Takes just 15 minutes or so. If you would like, i can send you instructions on
how to do it.

Yes, please send those instructions. I have made a tip / donation just a few minutes
ago, thanks.

JK:
Thank you very much. I will send that info right out.....
