Chevy Impala Sputters- Power Steering Leaking
2000 Chevy Impala Engine size = 3.8L.
Repairs for this problem = cold air intake replaced.
Question = when i get on the gas from a stand still why does my car will sputter a little bit then
take off. Also when rpms are at a steady pace the rpm gauge will go up and down till i give it more
gas. What could the problem be? Thank you.
Answer:
Not much experience with these cold air systems, but does not sound related. This does sound
like a bad plug wire, coil, or spark plug. Spark plug wires tend to "break down" under heavy
electrical load- such as hard acceleration from a stop, or light acceleration from at steady highway
speeds, since the car is in overdrive gear.

So when i take off the car does alright till about 20-25 mph then it just kinda revs up and wont go any faster, but when i drop it down into 3rd itll give a little more but wont go over 30 mph. 2001 Chevy Impala.
Answer:
Need to be clear about the problem. If you are sure the engine is revving up and it is revs too high but the car wont go faster, that means the transmission is slipping. If the engine does not seem to have any power and wont rev up any higher with your foot to the floor, then you have a plugged catalytic converter.
Question: 2005 Chevrolet Impala.
Warning lights: Battery, seat belt flickers and a weird noise on the ac where you
turn it on. Repairs: Tune up changed the battery.
Question: Hi there. On my moms car its started to have problems when you start the
car. It seems like the starter is about to give up. Leave the car for a few seconds
and it starts. The battery is new but when i was driving it to see what it would do a
weird noise under the dash where you turn the A/C on and the dash battery and the
seat belt light flicker and a buzzing noise. Her temperature gage dont show the
temperature no more. It goes haywire. I replaced the temperature sensor and it
worked for a few days and it started to doing the same thing .
Thanks Ronald.
Answer:
The problem with the starter sounds like it would be a bad battery, but you already
replace that. This may be a bad starter. The other problems with the lights in the
dash and the noise under the dash, and the temperature gauge problem, make me
think it might be a BCM problem. BCM stands for body control module. The BCM
controls most of the dash warning light functions, gauges, as well as many other
functions of the car. But the BCM should have nothing to do with the starter. Be
sure to check all the grounds on the engine.
Follow the negative battery cable down to the engine and make sure it's clean and tight. And check all grounds you can find. There are several on the transmission bell housing, and others on the inner fender wells under the hood. There are also several grounds under the driver side of the dash. Most ground wires or black wires.
I replace the starter too ,and still have the same problem its hard to start it takes several
attempts until it starts checked all the grounds still have the same problem and it still does
a weird noise too under the dash. It's does it when you want to crank the car on the dash it shows the battery check the
engine and the security but it wont crank it will start after few attempts.
Answer: Okay. If it cranks but won't start then sounds like you have a possible theft
or security system problem. If it takes a few turns of the key to get the
engine the crank, then this may be a problem in the ignition switch. This
switch may also give you of the other problems you're having with the noise
under the dash and the other lights. With the engine running, tap on the
head of the Key with a small hammer to see If you can get the engine to die
out or the lights to start flickering or any other odd electrical Issues.
I took my Chevroolet Impala to the mechanics they put it on the computer and it showed the negative
post loose stopped doing it for a while. They told me the security on the key might be the
problem change it to the spare key and it started. Again with the same symptoms again
you have too wait for a while until it crank over. Now on the dash it shows check engine
light stays on you think it might be the ignition switch or the body control module? I for got
to tell you also the car was on a fender bender on the left side but the air bags didn't pop
out on the hit can that be another problem?
The security system on this car does not use a chip in the key, so
changing keys would not matter. Sounds like an ignition switch or
passlock cylinder-which is the key cylinder. Need to scan the
computer for the check engine light first.
How do i repair a code P0420 on a 2002 Chevy Impala?
P0420 is usually caused by a bad catalytic converter.
Passenger side air bag light stays on and there is this humming sound coming from under the dash. This sound started when the light came on. Can not hear it until you reach 30mph. 2000 Chevy Impala V-6 3800.
