codes = P0420

question = code 0420 which part of emission and what is left bank.

MW:
P0420 is "Low catalyst efficiency"
Left bank is drivers side.
Possible bad catalytic converter on that side, or
o2 sensor has incorrect reading
causing  the pcm to think the catalytic converter is not functioning properly.
2002 GMC 2500

Warning lights: Reduced engine power.
Repairs for this problem = Put on throttle modular. Question = Will be going 70 mph then
loses power all at once.
Answer: You could have a myriad of problems. With the little information you
provided, these are just going to be best guesses at your problem. First off,
I would check the throttle body and make sure it was installed correctly, and
that the idle was relearned properly. Check for anything restricting airflow.
Check fuel pressure, you may have a fuel pump that is about to go out.
Also, the fuel filter could be clogged and causing your problem. You could
possibly have a catalytic converter issue that is restricting exhaust flow.
Being a 2002, you probably have a lot of miles on it. Could be time for a
tune up. Not a usual cause, but electrical problems cause intermittent die
outs too. Charging system problems, battery problems, and even PCM
problems could all be at the root cause of your power loss.
