Fuel Gauge problem on my 1999 Chevrolet Astro Van

question = The fuel gage constantly jumps a little up and down. When I
turn on the ignition or start the car, it really quickly jumps over the
full mark, then back to empty, and then to the amount of fuel in the
tank. When I put the gear selector into reverse, the fuel needle also
jumps one small line up and then down quickly. Or if I leave my turn
signal on, every time the turn signal blinks and turns off, for each blink
the fuel gage moves up one line, and then back down one line every time
the directional light turns off. Also, when the directional light
blinks, you can also hear the fuel pump slightly change pitch. When the
directional light is on, the pitch is slightly lower, and when the
directional light is off, the pitch is slightly louder. (Note: The change in
pitch happens quickly when the directional light is on, because the
directional light is constantly turning on and off [blinking]). Sometimes the
(normal) constant fuel pump but slowly grows louder when I leave !
the car in park.

JK:
Sounds like a fuel level sensor problem, or the connector on top of o the
fuel tank sending unit. This connector has the wires for the pump and the
level sensor in it. There may me some corrosion in that connector. Also
should have the sender ground checked.
