SOMETHING dash lights = NO codes = NO work done prior = HD REGULATOR CHANGED ON PASSENGER WINDOW, HD TRANSMISSION SERVICED AND FUEL FILTER CHANGED... work done to repair = FUEL FILTER CHANGED, TRANSMISSON FLUID CHANGED TRANSAXLE FILTER tech = JK question = SORRY I MUST HaVE PASSED THE TIP DONATION SECTION, WELL DONATE ON PAYDAY IF THAT IS POSSIBLE, SINGLE MOTHER AND STRUGGLING..IF CAN ANSWER THANKS IF NOT THANks ANYWAY..I DRIVE A 2001 BUICK CENTURY LOTS OF SLUGGISHNESS TRYING TO GET FROM 10 TO OVER 50 MMPH,FEELS LIKE MOTOR IS JERKING THEN SMOOTHES OUT OVER 50, STARTS STALLING AGAIN WHEN GOING UPHILL ON HIGHWAY, IS IT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, OR FUEL INJECTORS ?? PLEASE HELP...
JK: Any number of things can cause this problem. Yes, a plugged catalytic converter is one of them. Also low fuel pressure, innacurate mass airflow sensor(MAF), corroded ignition coils. The key to starting diag. is to get the system scanned for codes. Most of the large national parts store chains will do this for free (Autozone, Murray's, etc.). If a code like p0300, then misfires are your problem, so checking ignition system(coils) would need to be done. If other codes, then that system will need to be looked at. If no codes, then would look more to fuel pressure. Ususally these things or a catalytic converter will set a code. On the 'How-to, tips, pics' page of the site, there is a good pic. of a corroded ignition coil that may help. Click the link 'ignition coil and plug wire inspect'. Just pull off plug wires 1 by 1 and inspect. This is a simple check that may help. Let me know what you find and i will try to be of more assistance. Back
