question = car won't go but just a mile before it just sits there, while
i am pushing on the gas why is that?
JK:
The engine revving up, but car not moving sounds like a transmission problem.
That is as long as the engine is revving properly, and does not lack power. First
step would be to check the transmission fluid level and condition. See if it is full,
and does not look or smelled burnt. If it does, a trans. Tech will have to do some
diag. To find out why it does not move / shift
2040 Buick Lesabre Just had the transmission rebuilt. No complaints 155,000 almost
trouble free miles. At present, when coming to an incomplete stop, take foot off the
brake and coast several yards. Then when accelerating, the engine races a few
seconds and then the transmission engages with a wham. What is the problem and
shouldn't this problem have been solved with he rebuilt trans?
Answer: It could be a pump problem, or a seal that didn't
seat right inside the transmission. Usually when it doesn't
shift, or does so with a lot of force, the line pressure from
the transmission fluid pump is fluctuating. The pump could
be faulty, but most likely there is a seal or gasket inside the
trans that came out of position or is cut. Another possibility
is that the valve body isn't functioning correctly, which could
be caused by debris inside it, a faulty valve or check ball
installed wrong. You can check the fluid to see if it's burnt,
and at the correct level. Otherwise, the transmission will
have to be disassemble to find the exact problem.
